It's Happening: The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO Is Peak Seventh-Generation Z

After a brief two-year hiatus without a Z following the production end of the 370Z, Nissan's iconic sports car returned for 2023 as the Z.

Plain and simple. Straight to the point. Nissan Z.

For 2024, there's a new iteration of the new Z from NISMO, aka Nissan Motorsports International. This is the enhanced Z, the aggressive Z, the track-ready Z. This is the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO.

Sitting above the Z Sport and Z Performance in Canada's 2024 Nissan Z lineup, the Z NISMO starts with a 20-horsepower upgrade (to 420) and adds revised componentry in virtually all aspects of the Z's suspension: unique stabilizer bars, stiffer springs, larger retuned dampers, wider 19-inch wheels (10-inch front, 10.5-inch rear) and wearing Dunlop SP Sport MAXX GT600 tires (now 285/35R19 at the rear.)

Front brakes have been upgraded to 15-inches; rears measure 13.8 inches with NISMO-specific brake pad compound. The overall chassis is now braced at the front, rear, and rear underfloor. Bushings are also stiffer at the suspension and steering rack.

Inside, there are mostly subtle touches that distinguish the Z NISMO: a red starter button, red-rimmed tachometer, and a leather/Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel with red accents at the 12 o'clock position. Oh, and yes, those are leather/Alcantara seats from Recaro.

Outside, the Z NISMO is available in Black Diamond Pearl, Brilliant Silver, Passion Red TriCoat, Everest White Pearl TriCoat, and one NISMO-exclusive colour: Stealth Grey. There's a black roof with a dark metallic grey katana-blade. The Z NISMO's front fascia is distinct, as well, with a very obvious red accent that highlights the chin element. Meanwhile, there's a taller and wider three-piece rear spoiler, and even the rear bumper corners have been altered for aerodynamic purposes.

But this is a Nissan sports car, so the core enhancement is under the hood. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 now produces 384 lb-ft of torque (up 34 lb-ft) along with the upgrade to 420-horsepower. All that torque is available on a plateau from 2,000 to 5,200 rpm.

The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO goes on sale in fall 2023.
