Nissan Rear Door Alert Now Standard On Altima, Armada, Leaf, Murano, Maxima, Pathfinder, Rogue, Qashqai, Sentra, And Titan; Available On Kicks
July 20 2020, Centennial Nissan
In 2019, Nissan and numerous other automobile manufacturers pledged to include a rear seat reminder feature in all vehicles by model year 2025.
Nissan is well on its way to meeting that target by 2022.
Rear Door Alert, often referred to as RDA, is now standard equipment on 10 Nissan Canada vehicles: Altima, Armada, Leaf, Murano, Maxima, Pathfinder, Rogue, Qashqai, Sentra, and Titan. It's also included on the Kicks SV and Kicks SR.
Here's how Rear Door Alert works.
You get the idea. Imagine you leave the grocery store with a load of groceries and plop those groceries in the back seat. Although Rear Door Alert doesn't sense or track people and cargo, your Nissan knows you opened one of the back doors before leaving the parking lot.
Now you've reached your destination. You exit the vehicle and proceed to walk into your house, but your Nissan alerts you to the fact that there might just be something in the back seat that you want. After all, it knows you opened the back door before leaving the grocery store. The first alert occurs once your Nissan's shifter is in park; the second would occur if you exit the vehicle and don't open a rear door. In that case, you'll hear distinctive horn chirps.
Whether you view Rear Door Alert as a vitally important safety feature, there's no denying it's a remarkably useful convenience feature.
